Severe Weather Procedures

In the event of serious weather conditions such as heavy snow or ice, it may be necessary to close the school for the safety of pupils and staff.

Early morning decision:

  • If county transport is not running, school may still open for the children who live locally if we have enough staff.
  • If the decision is made to close the school we will notify all parents directly via ParentMail. We will also notify the local radio stations and BBC Somerset - you can look on www.bbc.co.uk/somerset

     BBC Somerset 1566Mhz
     Heart FM 102.6FM or 96.5FM

We will endeavour to staff the school telephone from 8-9am to answer queries if parents are not able to use the radio or internet. However the school email address would be the recommended method of contact.

School Email Address

Bad weather during the day:

If the weather deteriorates during the day, school may close early. If this is the case then the following will happen:

  • School transport will be re-arranged. All parents who use school transport will be contacted to ensure that there will be someone at home to meet them.
  • ParentMail notification will be sent.
  • Other parents will be contacted by phone to ask them to collect their children.
  • If parents cannot be contacted, we will keep them at school until someone can pick them up.

Please ensure that the school office has up-to-date contact details for you.
