Our Learning

Learning through play at Little Berries

All our children are encouraged to learn and move forward at their own pace.

We support them to work together to achieve their goals, ensuring that every child is included, envolving parents every step of the way.

During the day the children have the opprtunity to play inside and out.

We offer a range of activities for them to explore and investigate.

Our curriculum is individualised to support children to fulfil their potential.

Learning opportunities are exciting and varied with a mixture of child and adult led activities.

The Early Years Foundation Stage sets the standards that all Early Years Providers must meet to ensure all children learn and develop well and are kept healthly and safe.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

We promote the children's personal and social development by providing opportunities for discussions in large and small groups. We encourage the children to develop their self care by taking responsibility for themselves in daily routines.

Communication and Language Development

The children are provided with daily periods of story telling and rhyming games giving them opportunities to listen and talk to each other.

Physical Development

We provide the children with large and small construction toys, malleable materials, scissors, pencils, and threading and sewing activities to develop their gross and fine motor skills.

The children are given opportunities to develop their literacy skills by using mark making materials (such as sand, water and mud) both indoors and outside . We provide the children with a variety of reading materials including signs and labels.

We use number stories, songs and rhymes to help the children develop their mathematic skills. We also use a variety of board games, puzzles, 2D and 3D shapes.

Knowledge of the World

Children's early understanding and knowledge of the world is developed using a variety of methods including sensory and heuristic play.

Expressive Arts and Design

We encourage the children to express themselves creatively through the provision of arts and crafts activities as well as songs and music.
