Outdoor Learning at Exford School

We place great emphasis on the importance of Outdoor Learning, and all children engage in at least one timetabled Outdoor Learning session each week. Mr Weston is our trained Forest School leader who takes responsibility for outdoor learning in both classes.

We aim to provide a learning approach that offers children regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a  natural environment. We work closley with the Exmoor National Park Authority to develop our children's understanding of the environment on which they live and long term sustainability of the countryside.

The designated Forest School Area within our school site is maintained throughout the year by the children. They are also involved in designing and developing the area, including a new reflection garden which has been added this year.
